Highland Park police chief, deputy replaced
Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp removed the city's police chief and deputy chief Wednesday and replaced them with new public safety leaders.
Highland Middle/High School named a Blue Ribbon School
MONTEREY ? Highland County Middle/High School in Monterey is one of only seven Virginia schools named a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.
Highland DUI checkpoint nets seven arrests, 12 towed
Highland officers conducted a DUI/license checkpoint Friday, Sept. 3, on Base Line and Central Avenue. In contacting 663 vehicles, deputies arrested two people for driving under the influence, one for drug possession and one on an outstanding warrant.
Highland crooks on the loose
Highland has a good record of clearing crime cases, but there are a few suspects still on the ?wanted? list in the city. Suspects in five cases and one sex offender are being sought by local officers.
Highland robbery reported
Highland police are searching for two men who held up a liquor store in the 7200 block of Sterling Avenue. Detective Matt Peterson says on Aug. 16, two men entered the liquor store shortly before midnight and approached the counter.
